I qualified in Therapeutic Massage in 2012. I attained 2 x diplomas from the renowned Western School of Massage https://www.westernschool.co.uk/ in 2018 and 2019 and now integrate a sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology and remedial techniques into my therapeutic practice. I have been privileged to work with highly qualified and experience teachers and tutors here and would recommend to any practitioner looking to expand their knowledge.
I am experienced treating a wide demographic working in Chiropractic clinics, The Priory Hospital and private practice.
I specialise in working with Eating Disorder, body image issues, body trauma, abuse, sexual abuse, anxiety and depression.
I have researched the work of Peter Levine, Purges, Rothschild and Bessel van der Kolk to support my work.
My combined training has led me to practice psychotherapeutic bodywork - helping people to heal through touch and movement.
I first became curious about therapeutic bodywork out of curiosity around my own undiagnosed digestive disorder that I had suffered silently with since birth. With some gentle guidance from some amazing teachers, I realised that in order to begin healing I would first have to face the anxiety that I carried in my body from the trauma of early years in hospital and anxiety around hiding my condition in adolescence. For me this manifested not as memory (I was too young to remember) but as muscle memory - tension and anxiety in the body triggered by situations where I felt vulnerable. Most of the time I felt fine which made such moments really alarming. Massage therapy helped me to reconnect to my body, feel safe enough and supported enough to get to know the sensations of anxiety, fear, self-consciousness and work with muscle memory to send new signals and create new possibilities. Slowing down the process and being guided to feel into whats really going on, meeting the fear and letting it pass, has hugely helped my own condition, the way I relate to myself and the ease with which I now navigate the world.
