I now integrate knowledge of anatomy, physiology and remedial techniques into my therapeutic practice.
Experienced in treating a wide demographic working in Chiropractic clinics, The Priory Hospital - Eating Disorder Unit - and private practice.
As well as welcoming clients suffering with tense muscles from work/ life stress and a range of injury recovery, I specialise in treating clients recovering from eating disorders, body image issues, trauma symptoms, stress and anxiety.
Since May 2021 I have been undergoing Pilates Teacher Training in order to offer more targeted advice, stretches and exercise that clients can take into their daily life. I will be offereing one to one Pilates from July 2022.
I have excellent contacts in complimentary practices and am confident referring clients to Osteopaths, Chiropractors, Pilates teachers and talking Counsellors if appropriate to do so.
I have researched the work of Peter Levine, Purges, Rothschild and Bessel van der Kolk to support my work.
I first became curious about therapeutic bodywork out of curiosity around my own body. I was born with a digestive disorder that casued me to feel different from others and to have symptoms that caused me to feel alone and ashamed of my body. I spent my early life in hospital and while there is no memory of this time, I have come to acknowledge that some of this experience lives in me in my felt sense. Trauma symptoms can manifest differently for different people and if not understood can feel frightening to experience and can cause people to disconnect from their body. Massage therapy helped me to reconnect to my body, feel safe enough and supported enough to get to know these sensations and make them more ok. It is not a replacement for talking therapy or trauma therapy but can work well along side such work, especially with body related issues. The more I become aware in my body, I am able to send new signals and create new possibilities. Whether I am treating mechanical issues - chronic tension/ injury recovery - or helping clients relax and reconnect to their felt sense, I am always informed by the intention that my contact with clients is deeply resourcing.
